While white pine costs more than yellow pine, it is less likely to bow or twist. Green treated white pine posts are straighter than yellow pine posts, but they do react differently to pressure treatment and typically develops some light twisting. Over time white pine will get some vertical cracks called “checks.” These cracks are fine and will not threaten the integrity of the post.
